Once Upon A Sketch

Hello everyone, it's time for a new challenge over at OUAS, and we have some amazing inspiration for you, plus some awesome guest designers! Please go check it out at the OnceUponASketch blog!!!

Here are some of the details:

The theme of this challenge is BIRTHDAYS

We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "BIRTHDAYS" however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

Ideas for Journalling:most memorable birthday celebration for you or anyone in your family, the last birthday you celebrated and tell us your thoughts on turning this age, your child's/other family member's birthday and your thoughts on their age, a birthday that was a turning point in your life and your excitement/fears or other thoughts you had, an upcoming birthday for you or anyone and your thoughts, the best birthday present you ever received/gave and why?. You can also base your layout on a non - person birthday. This means your birthday theme can be based on : a pet, a business venture, a milestone anniversary etc etc. Its up to you how you interpret "BIRTHDAYS

Now, here is my take on the sketch:

I used products from the May Swirlydoos kit for this page, it features some beautiful GCD Studios papers. I used Kaisercraft blooms and a  pretty Prima pearl accent. The frame is Imaginarium Designs and I embossed it with WOW bright white embossing powder. The chippie accent at the bottom is Dusty Attic and a gift from a dear friend Gabrielle! Thank you Gabi!!! I embossed it with the WOW white also.

The larger bloom was a really big one that I took and cut the bottom off of, bunched up and sewed together. I put a mini rosebud in the center!

I added a pretty white Prima butterfly too this came from a previous Swirlydoos kit! I thought it just added the right finishing touch!!!

Please run over to the blog to see the amazing work from the design team, and I urge you to play along, there are some awesome prizes too!!! You will find all the details here: Once Upon A Sketch blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, I appreciate the visits more than you know!!!

Memorial Day Week-end

PLEASE REMEMBER AND SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!!

I did this page in honor of this week-end. Please take time to remember our military who are serving and who have served before. It is because of them that we are able to enjoy this Holiday week-end safe and secure with our family and friends.

I did this page with  Moxxie paper and stickers from the Hometown Celebration collection. It's perfect for this time of year and so easy to work with!!!! I only added a few little blooms, buttons and ribbon!

Our dd models for PinUpsForSoldiers.
They do calendars and benefits to raise money to support the troops, this photo was taken at one of the calendar signings.

This is a close-up of the little blooms, the larger one was a Petaloo ColorMeCrazy that was white. I used denim alcohol ink by Ranger to color it.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, and please don't forget to check out all the fabulous Moxxie collections here: Moxxie!

It's time........the winner for the subscription from my blog is......................

Blogger Maureen Hayes said...
I really loved you r project over at Paper Crafter's Library. The whole thing is beautiful, but I was especially taken with how you used two colors on the butterflies and thought it really gave them great dimension and popped them off the page!! I will be following you r blog now because I can't wait to see what you create next!

I would LOVE to win a membership to PCL. I am just getting started with paper and other types of crafting and I could really use the video tutorials to learn about different types of crafting and techniques. I am impressed with how clearly and easily they teach on their videos and have wanted to join but unable to afford it due to serious illness and financial difficulties. I hope I will win the membership, but in any case, I am so glad to have found your work.

Thanks so much for sharing with us,
Maureen

A Bit About Paper Crafter’s Library
The world of paper crafting is HUGE! Whether you are a beginner, or you’ve been creating for years, the sheer number of different products, tools, techniques and project ideas can be overwhelming. After spending 6 years helping thousands of paper crafters around the world become more successful in the creative space through her series of kits, digital tutorials and online classes, Andrea Walford began looking for a new approach to education. In 2011 she launched Paper Crafter’s Library – the first, and still to this day, only website that provides an all-in-one learning solution for paper crafters. With almost 800 videos currently in their library and 4-5 new videos added each week, Paper Crafter’s Library offers comprehensive training on products, tools, techniques, and project ideas. From beginner through to advanced, whether your interest is in stamping, card making, scrapbooking, creating 3D items or altered art – you’ll find all the resources you need to navigate the world of paper crafting in ONE place, organized and indexed so that it’s quick and easy to find.

Here are a few sneeks of my project that you can find TODAY over at the Paper Crafter's Library blog.

On this, you can see the butterflies. For these, I use two different colors, I use one color for the solid outline stamp, and then a different color for the center that I choose. I cut them both out and layer them together, Then I add some pearls for the body of the butterfly. I curl the wings on the top layer slightly.

Here you can see the detail on the butterfly and on the title letters. Also one of the little leaves.

This is just another view of the butterfly, shows the dimension of them. These are so easy, and so much fun to play with the different color combos!!!

Summertime Card for RRR

Today is my turn to post at the RRR blog. I'm in the mood for Summer so I did a card to match my feelings!!! It's been so yucky and rainy here for the last few days, I am ready for sunshine and hot days!!!

Here is the card: I used the RRR gingham assortment #000510 for this!  I thought the colors were just perfect for the Summertime theme and the Fancy Pants Rusted Sun paper and glitter cut. I used WorldWin Papers white cardstock for the card base.

Here is a close-up. I just made little loops and then attached little ties at the top of each! I used flat glue dots to attach the ribbon to the glitter cut, they're really sticky and worked well.

Please check the RRR blog to see the current challenge and check everyday for the latest projects from the design team! Thanks so much for dropping by!!!

RRR Challenge #48

RRR Challenge #48 - Father's Day/Masculine with Ribbon or Trim

Hello everyone! It's time for a new challenge over at Really Reasonable Ribbon.

The theme for Challenge #48 is Father's Day/Masculine with Ribbon or Trim.

Create a card, layout, multi media piece, tag, ATC, hair bow, you name it. Just be sure to follow the theme above and use ribbon/lace or trim somewhere on your project.

Here is the card that I did for the challenge!

I used the red and green baker's twine and threaded them through the two matching buttons then tied a bow. Just a really easy and quick but cute technique!

My chipboard is some really old Scenie Route and my stitching is faux, done with a Sakura white gel pen!!! Please check out the Really Reasonable blog to see the other DT work, and please join the fun and participate in the challenge too!!!

THanks so much for stopping by!!!

RRR Blog Hop!!!

Hello everyone! And welcome to my first time participating in the Really Reasonable Ribbon  monthly Blog Hop! I am so excited to share this! This month's assortment is awesome, just brimming with lots of shocking pink and black!!!

You have arrived here from.Heidi's blogHeidi's blog If you get lost at any time, please just visit the RRR homepage to see the order.

First, here is a layout that I did using the beautiful black and pink satin ribbon. I also used the dotted ribbon to make part of the bloom on the middle sized flower. I took some bubble wrap and covered it with embossing ink and used Suzy West WOW bubble gum, and ebony to make the background. I also journaled around the top and bottom edge.

I used the Spellbinders Grand Caliber and Moroccan Accents die for the border and the paper lace diecut. I used the pink and black ribbon together, side by side and made a bow from each.
Here is a closeup of the dotted ribbon bloom. I put a button on top, then a little rose for the topper. The base is just a pleated bloom in black  Worldwin cardstock.

Now for the card. I used all 3 of the dotted patterned thinner ribbon on this, and one big pink satin one with a little black dotted one on top! I love using 2 types of ribbon together on my bows!

This is one of my all time favorite color combinations! You can't go wrong with pink and black! I hope you are enjoying the blog hop, Don't forget your next stop......
Thank you for stopping by, and your next stop will be the beautiful blog of  Misty!!!

Really Reasonable Ribbon!!!

Hello everybody! Today if my first turn to post a project on the Really Reasonable Ribbon blog! I did a page using some pink twill ribbon and pink and light green baker's twine!  This is our dd and her then fiance on the beach, it's one of the engagement pics that I took of them!

Here are a  few close-ups showing some detail. Here you can see that I doubled the little bow with both the twill and the bakers twine. I think it gives it just a little different look.

Here you can see that I used pop dots to give a little dimension to the picture and the flower cut out. I just fussy cut the blooms from the Echo Park Victoria Garden paper.

Here you can see that I just used the bakers twine in alternating colors with the buttons on the little diamond cut outs. I love these colors!!!

I appreciate you stopping by and I hope you liked the use of the ribbon and twine. Please check out the RRR blog to see some really inspiring work from all of the talented designers!!!

How About a "WOW" card?

Well, it's Friday, and I'm glad! I really need to clean my scrap space, it's getting pretty messy! I just wanted to share a quick card that I did with some Echo Park scraps that I found. This little card came together so easy! I used the Suzy West WOW embossing powders in Whirly Pop and Bubble Gum and Wow regular Pastel Pink and Primary Ebony. I used the  "Is It a Bird" stamp set, I just love the little birds!!!

I used Echo Park "Victoria Gardens" scraps on this. That was such a beautiful collection! I added a little Kaisercraft pink bloom and a few embellies and that was it!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!!! I really appreciate it!!!

Really Reasonable Ribbon & Kaisercraft

I was lucky enough to be chosen to be on the new "Really Reasonable Ribbon" design team, and my first project was on this weeks post. The challenge is "feminine" themed. I posted the entire teams's projects previously, but wanted to show my project with some closeups as well. This is my Mom and Dad, they joined the Air Force at the same time! My Dad was furious at my Mom for joining! I also used Kaisercraft  "Sweet Nothings" goodies on this page!

I used several different types of ribbon on this page. I used the twill ribbon, the baker's twine and Allison lace too. I wove the twill ribbon through the crocheted lace. I added some Liquid Pearls to the edge of a cut out from the paper to look like an actual cameo. I stickled the edge with bronze stickles too. I misted the larger Kaisercraft bloom with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

I made a little stick pin and put it through the bows, one each of the ribbon and twine.
This was a fun page to do, I used lots of goodies from Really Reasonable Ribbon, Kaisercraft and Suzy West WOW Embossing powders.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!

Excuse the Mess!!!

Well, my blog background was apparantly infused with something bad, so I had to remove it! I don't think I'm the only one, but Shabby Blogs had something wrong with it. So I have to rework my background and everything when I have time, so in the meantime, it will look messy and mismatched, so please excuse it!!!

Thanks for visiting. I have some news coming up, and some projects to share soon.
